Ghana Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan on Friday inspected work on the construction of an artificial pitch for his alma mater Accra Academy Senior High School.
Gyan made the announcement to construct the facility in February of 2015 when he visited the school whilst on holidays.
He reiterated his commitment to redeem his promise by cutting the sod as a sign for the commencement of the project in November of 2015
The project involves the construction of an Astroturf field, to replace the old one at the school. The new pitch would of international standards, the facility will have tartan track, changing rooms, toilet facilities, lights and VVIP viewership area.
Asamoah Gyan was amused at the progress of work and commended his team and the project manager for a good work done. “Am very proud today seeing this dream come into reality, I hope it will be ready by end of June for the school as we celebrate Accraca at 80” Gyan told the press.
The project which is said to be in the region of $200,000 after its completion will see the school churn out more football talents to feed the country’s various national teams.
Gyan completed Accra Academy Senior High School in 2002 where his football skill was harnessed by veteran coach J.E Sarpong who was the school’s football coach then.
He toured the site with Business Manager Samuel Anim Addo, his big brother Nana Opoku Gyan and the G-Unit. The team took time to fraternize with Teachers and took selfies with the students.
