Asia stocks rebounded on Wednesday following gains on Wall Street as a sense of calm returned to global markets.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 3.2% after falling nearly 7% in the previous session.
The recovery follows choppy trading in the US which ended with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 2.3%.
Analysts said investors hunting for bargains in the wake of heavy sell-offs on world markets helped drive gains.
Elsewhere in Asia on Wednesday, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 2.8%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.3%, and South Korea Kospi index held steady.
