Nana Fredua-Agyeman Jnr. has been shortlisted for an award in the Spoken Word category for the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) Literary Awards 2018 for his piece titled, “My Lost Friend”.
The poem was originally a tribute he penned to the memory his late pal Kwabena Akyeampong a.k.a ‘Shitman’ who died on 31st December, 2013.
However, the writer and poet, decided to turn it into a spoken word piece and released it as a single on the 1st of January, 2017. It was programmed by Linkin Beatz.
The poet follows the rules of literature and crafts a touching literary work. He uses the appropriate literary devices coupled with an appealing rhyme scheme to prepare a valuable piece. He touches on their friendship, moments shared and a future together cut short.
Speaking to basestartv.com, the poet was very thankful to God for the talent bestowed on him. He said, “the best gift one can offer humanity is to document events, therefore if you’ve been blessed with it, the least you could do is to use it positively. My compositions were known to only my close circle but ‘My Lost Friend’ took it to the world.”
The GAW Literary Awards will be held on Saturday, 24th November, 2018 from 6:00pm at the PAWA House at Roman Ridge, Accra.
